Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) licences are essential for enabling and managing Teams Rooms devices, ensuring optimal meeting experiences and device management. Microsoft offers two primary licensing options:
1. Microsoft Teams Rooms Basic:

Cost:

Free, limited to 25 rooms per tenant.
Features:

Core meeting functionalities, including scheduling, joining meetings, content sharing, and collaborative white-boarding.

Cannot be used for Teams Panels; only applicable to Teams Rooms systems.

If multiple Teams Rooms devices share the same resource account in a room, a Teams Rooms Pro license is required.

Key Considerations​
Device Compatibility
Teams Rooms Basic licences are limited to Teams Rooms systems, while Teams Rooms Pro licences can be applied to both Teams Rooms systems and Teams Panels.
License Assignment
Each Teams Rooms device requires its own license. For deployments exceeding 25 rooms, additional devices must be licensed with Teams Rooms Pro.
Transition from Legacy Licenses
Organisations using legacy licenses (Teams Rooms Standard or Premium) should transition to Teams Rooms Pro upon expiration, as legacy licenses do not automatically convert.
