The AV industry has long obsessed over the boardroom. Immaculately designed, beautifully lit, and fully integrated, these are the rooms that headline case studies. But for a huge portion of the market, they’re completely out of reach and frankly not needed in the era of hybrid work.
From creative studios and satellite offices to huddle rooms and co-working nooks, 4-to-6-person meeting spaces are now the beating heart of the modern workplace. Most of us are already delivering into these spaces at scale. But what’s changing is how we do it…
The rise of Microsoft’s Express Install strategy, and a new generation of pre-integrated, fully certified Microsoft Teams Rooms bundles, means we can now deliver professional, repeatable collaboration spaces in hours instead of days. Express Rooms are the future of scalable small meeting spaces across enterprise and SME alike. From a single small room to global multi-site rollout.
Everyone’s talking about it!
This year, Microsoft has doubled down on its Express Install strategy, bringing the “room-in-a-box” concept to the forefront to help businesses scale Microsoft Teams Rooms faster, easier, and more cost-effectively. Across the channel, we’re seeing brands follow suit.
Recent research by Jabra surveyed 900 knowledge workers across EMEA, APAC, and North America to explore how different environments fuel productivity and collaboration. The results were striking:
- 94% of employees said they rely on small rooms for day-to-day meetings
- 73% agreed these smaller spaces boost collaboration
- 74% said they improve team dynamics and trust
Logitech backs this up, estimating that by 2024, 75% of all video meetings will take place in rooms with just 4 to 6 people.
However, Jabra’s same report found that only around one in three small rooms currently has video-conferencing capability, leaving many teams without the tools they need to collaborate effectively. Small rooms, it seems, are where big ideas are born but also where businesses are most at risk of falling short.
Considering as well that Microsoft’s data show that about 20% of bookable resources in organisations have a room equipment, this feels like the right opportunity to be invested in.
Small space, big expectations
These businesses aren’t asking for less. In fact, their expectations are higher. They want technology that’s just as sharp, just as secure, and just as seamless as the solutions used by the enterprise. But they need it to be simple, fast, secure and flexible, sounds like a Microsoft Teams Room, right?
As companies downsize or reconsider long-term leases, small meeting rooms are often the easiest to create, repurposing underused space to deliver tangible value without major redesigns.
A FULL meeting room in a box
Enter the era of Express Room. Expect this to be a big buzz word at ISE and a big opportunity for the next 12 months. A full Microsoft Teams meeting room, in a box, ready for calls in under an hour. Together with Microsoft, Logitech, Lenovo, and Vision, we’ve put small rooms and huddle spaces top of our priority list and created a single SKU bundle with everything in one box. They are built around Microsoft’s three pillars of user experience, security and cost‑efficiency, making them ideal for fast roll‑outs in studios, satellites and huddle spaces.
Different flavours will be available but the MTRoW kit, which includes a Lenovo i3, Logitech Meetup2, Logitech TAP and the Vision Express Mount, is proving to be a good candidate for success. If you want to go down the Android road, a bundle with Rallybar Huddle, and Mini will be available as well. Important to note, all the necessary cables are included matched and tested. Just add a Samsung display and it’s ready to meet!
Aligned with Microsoft’s Express Install plan
Microsoft has been quietly championing the concept of “express install”, pre-integrated kits that reduce deployment time and make Teams Rooms more accessible to businesses without specialist AV teams.
Express Rooms are built on that same principle. They bring the certified experience of Microsoft Teams into the hands of a much wider market, without the barriers that have traditionally slowed down adoption.
What this means for the channel
For integrators and resellers, this is a chance to think differently about growth. Not every opportunity is a fit-out project. Some are about volume, replication, and delivering consistent value across a wide customer base.
Express Rooms unlock that repeatability. Sell once, roll out everywhere. From one meeting space to ten. From HQ to satellite sites. From one client to their whole franchise network
