Google Meet Hardware started making its way into the market around 2017. Ever since, organisations everywhere have embraced Google Meet to fast track digital transformation. With simple, scalable room kits, the ideal solution in a time of rapid change, expanding the way of working with Google Workspace and connecting over video via Meet.
But fast forward to today, and those first wave deployments are reaching a critical point. For integrators and resellers, this is a moment to reconnect and refresh. Here’s the opportunity for the channel…
The expiry has happened, what now?
As of June 1st, several first-generation Google Meet hardware kits officially reached Auto Update Expiry (AUE). Devices like the ASUS CN65, CTL CBx1 and Acer Chromebase are no longer receiving updates or security patches. Some of the original peripherals, including the Mimo touch controller and Huddly Go camera, have also aged out. These systems are no longer just outdated, they’re unsupported and potentially insecure.
That’s why now is the time to act! If you were involved in deploying these kits, your customers will need guidance on what comes next. Some may not even realise their rooms are out of date. This is your chance to offer strategic advice, evaluate current setups, and position upgraded solutions that align with today’s expectations for hybrid work.
Google Meet has moved on, so should the rooms
The meeting experience in 2025 looks very different to what it did since its inception years ago. Google Meet has introduced major innovations, with Gemini AI leading the way. Meetings are now more intelligent and efficient, with automated note taking, real-time translations and inclusive features that make collaboration smoother across languages, locations and teams. Visual enhancements like dynamic layouts and improved screen sharing mean meetings not only feel better, they look better too.
Upgrading isn’t just about replacing old hardware. It’s about unlocking the full value of modern meeting tools and making rooms smarter, more flexible, and more user-friendly.
A new generation of hardware, ready to deploy
Google’s hardware partners, including HP Poly, Lenovo, Logitech and Avocor, have developed a wide range of next generation Meet certified devices. Audio and video quality have improved dramatically, and the user experience is more intuitive than ever. Also with Google Meet offering native interoperability and Android offering multiple platform access, the functionality covers modern organization’s needs. Lastly, and price is never a differentiator, but if you are working with Google Workspace for your productivity day-to-day, Google Meet is the logical choice and might be a cost saver in the long run.
This is your moment to lead the conversation, and help your customers design rooms that are ready for the future and unlock collaboration.
